MT5 system parameter: What is SYMBOL_TRADE_STOPS_LEVEL?
When you place a Stop Loss or Take Profit order on MT5 and receive the error message "Invalid S/L or T/P", the cause usually originates from the broker's Stops Level attribute: • SYMBOL_TRADE_STOPS_LEVEL: The minimum distance in Points that the floor requires that the SL/TP set level must be away from the current market price (Ask/Bid). - If Stops Level = 30 points (0.30 USD Gold price), you cannot place Stop Loss less than 30 points from the current price. - High quality ECN/Raw Spread floors often maintain Stops Level = 0, allowing traders to place extremely flexible stop loss orders right close to the market price.

Implicit order matching mechanism between Take Profit (Limit) and Stop Loss (Stop Order)
These two types of protection orders have completely different matching mechanisms on the market order book: • Take Profit (Limit Order): When the market price reaches the TP level, the order is matched according to the Limit Order mechanism. You are guaranteed to match at the exact price you set or a BETTER price (Positive Slippage). • Stop Loss (Stop Order): When the price touches the SL level, the pending order is activated and immediately converted into a Market Order to close the position at any cost. During rapid price collapses or big news releases, the order will be subject to NEGATIVE Slippage, causing the actual stop loss price to be worse than the level you set on the screen.

Intuitive drag and drop operation and professional Trailing Stop management
Steps to set and adjust stop loss on MT5 computer and phone: • Intuitive drag and drop (MT5 PC): After opening an order, you just need to click and hold the left mouse button on the dashed line representing the order entry price on the chart and drag up/down. MT5 will immediately display the corresponding estimated profit or loss. • Trailing Stop feature: Right click on the order in the Toolbox window -> Select Trailing Stop -> Set automatic loss distance according to the trend. When the price moves in a favorable direction, the Stop Loss level will automatically move closely to protect accumulated profits.
